Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell has been a chef, television presenter in the US and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides straightforward, simple techniques to master for home cooks on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of the top eateries in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy, and battled in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell is a native of the Upstate and grew up within New York State's Upstate, developed an early passion for cooking. She pursued her passion for working in the restaurant business by enrolment in The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English and Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I was a huge Culinary Institute of American student. I enjoyed every moment." It was impossible to take enough out of it. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. In Italy, she developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food and culture. This has had a profound impact on the way she cooks. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of kids who struggle. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate, where she promotes awareness of young diabetics. She has been a frequent presenter at conferences, and she travels throughout the United States to mentor others in her role. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel so lucky to be able to share my passion for life with people.
